Secular Humanism is a naturalistic perspective that promotes the use of scientific reasoning and compassion for life as a way to live and make ethical decisions.

What does Lincoln Secular Humanists plan to accomplish?

LSH plans to create a sense of awareness and community for local freethinkers by bringing them together to benefit the community, criticize harmful dogmas, and stand up against the intrusion of religion into government and public institutions.

Are the Lincoln Secular Humanists religious?

Secular humanists may be atheists, agnostics, freethinkers, or religious persons who do not force their beliefs on the public. However, not all members of these subgroups are considered to be secular humanists by default. For example, atheists not interested in helping their fellow man are usually not involved with secular humanist issues.

How do you become a member of Lincoln Secular Humanists?

There is no formal "membership" status outside of elected officers. Interested persons are encouraged to attend our social or business meetings, sign up to receive event announcements through email, or participate in online discussions on the Lincoln Secular Humanists website, Myspace, and Facebook.

Are Secular Humanists trying to end religion?

No, People should be free to believe whatever they wish as long as they are not destructive to themselves or others. While we do not endorse the censorship of ideas, Lincoln Secular Humanists strongly promotes open criticism of unsubstantiated claims, especially when it comes to matters of public policy.
